How many messages do you get with Claude Pro?
Anthropic's published guidance is around 45 messages per rolling 5-hour session, "often more depending on capacity." There is no fixed daily total — a separate weekly cap also applies, and both are measured in compute, so message length, attachments, and model choice change the real number substantially.
Does Claude Pro include Claude Code?
Yes. Claude Code is included on Pro and draws from the same 5-hour and weekly limits as claude.ai chat. Its 5-hour session limits were doubled on May 6, 2026, and peak-hour reductions were removed at the same time.
Can I use Claude Fable 5.1 on Claude Pro?
Not within the subscription's included limits. Since its September 1, 2026 launch, Fable 5.1 on Pro runs only on pay-as-you-go credits billed separately. Max subscribers get it included up to 50% of their weekly limits.
Why did I hit my limit after far fewer than 45 messages?
Because limits are compute-based. A long conversation is reprocessed in full on every new message, so message 60 of a thread can cost many times message 1. Large file attachments and Opus-class models drain the allowance faster too. Starting fresh chats is the single biggest fix.
When do Claude Pro limits reset?
The session window resets roughly five hours after the first message that opened it. Weekly limits reset on their own schedule — Settings → Usage shows the exact date and time for each bucket.
Is Claude Pro enough, or do I need Max?
Pro comfortably covers a few hours of chat plus light Claude Code use per day. If you hit the weekly cap more than once a month — usually via Claude Code — Max 5x at $100/mo is the intended next step, with 5x the usage and Fable 5.1 included up to half its weekly limits.
